Sitting in North Europe, I should not take care of the mayor of New York.
Nevertheless, despite all the things that happen in the world, the controversial democratic primary in the Mayor’s election in the 201225 New York city has discovered the way around me – and on my social media feed.
This focus is not another example of the New Yorkar Cover of the 1976 of the 1976, the View of the World of the World of the World of the World in New York-centric Worldwide. A genuine political struggle is underway, which has the ability to violate the Hudson river beyond the river. In the middle of this there is a growing polar competition between Andrew Kumo and Zoharan Mamdani.
The name Koomo can ring the bell. After several allegations of sexual harassment, he resigned as the Governor of New York. At that time, he expressed his regret, marked by the diffiation in his political return – a claim on one of his accused and the state Attorney Turney General who felt reliable. He claims that the scam was a “political hit job”.
Kuomo’s record in the office was not refugee. He diverted billions of dollars from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) by threatening the financial health of the New York’s required public transition system. He set up the Morlland Commission to root corruption, but when he started an inquiry into the institutions connected to his own campaign, it suddenly broke. During COVID -1 (companionship) disease, their administration was accused of implementing the death of a nursing home.
Given this legacy, Kuomo may imagine that the possibility of mayor of Kuomi will be slim. Nevertheless, he is currently at the forefront of voting.
Behind him is a democratic socialist and state assembly in Queens. When he entered the race in March, Kuomo led 40 points. In a recent survey, Mamdani has now been ranked within 8 points.
Born in Kampa and grew in New York, Mamdani is the first Muslim candidate to contest for the mayor of the city. But its importance is beyond his identity. What is different from Mamdani is its unpleasant progressive platform – and refusing to dilute it in the name of “selective”. Its appeal is on a substance, charisma, sharp messaging and a large number of volunteers -led canvasing operations.
In the middle of the Mamdani campaign, it is a vision of the city that works for the working-class New Yorkers. They have proposed to rent rent for all rental apartments, build 200,000 affordable housing, build a public -owned grocery store, to “focus on prices, not get profit” and relieve buses. He maintains free children for children under the age of five, good wages for children’s care workers and “Baby Basket” with new parents.
To finance these initiatives, Mamdani has proposed to raise corporate tax rates from 7.25 per cent to 11.5 per cent and to earn more than $ 1 million a year on residents of New York city.
He wants to increase the minimum wage, he wants to regulate gig economy giants like Dordash and protect the distribution workers. Their plans to set up a community security department can change the resources from traditional policing to the prevention of mental health and violence.
Increasing the city’s sanctuary status, by eliminating the effect of ICE, increasing legal support to immigrants, protecting LGBTQ+ rights and protecting reproductive health care, New York has promised to “Trump-proof”.
But as a brown, Muslim candidate – Mamdani has become an electric rod to hate by winning such bold policies. Recently, in a rare program of emotions, Mamdani was torn down while saying the threats he received: “I got the message that only a good Muslim is a dead Muslim. I was threatened with my life… on my favorite people.
NYPD is investigating two voicemail of an unknown collar, who labeled Mamdani as “terrorist”, threatened to hold his car bomb and warned: “You F.K.
Kuomo’s campaign has also played in Islamophobic Trops. Kuomo-centered Super PAC doctors’ photos of Mamdani’s photo to darken and raise a mailr-deduction and declare that he “rejects NYPD, rejects Israel, rejects capitalism, and rejects Jewish rights”.
Most of these centers are on the obvious speech of Mamdani for Palestine rights. He has been criticized for refusing to confirm the right to exist as Israel’s Jewish state and the declaration of “globalization of the Intifa”, which described as “equality and desire for equality and equal rights”. He also mentioned that the Holocaust Memorial Museum of the US Holocaust Memorial Museum has used the Arabia term to describe the Warsh uprising of 4 44.
Despite the attacks, the movement of Mamdani is increasing. He has been approved by Senate Member Bernony Sanders, Congress Alexandria Ocasio-Cortes, Congress Women’s Naidia Vellaskez, Attorney General Latia James, New York Workers Family Party Party United Auto Workers Region 9A and Jewish Voice for Peace Action.
On the contrary, Kuomola has been supported by cautious real estate donors from Mamdani’s housing agenda. His campaign has received $ 1 million from Dordashi, most likely in response to Mamdani’s proposed labor protection. The other prominent donors include Ken Langon, co-founder of Home Depot and Hedge Fund billionaire Bill Acman-both are famous for supporting Donald Trump.
Nevertheless, the mission of Mamdani’s grassroots has continued to move. Whether he won the nomination, his candidacy has already achieved something important: he has given evidence of anti-corporate, trump, civil-power campaign-can echo the rejection of popular values and refuse to compromise.
But the Dawa is far beyond New York. The whole of Europe, South America, South Asia and Africa, the population of the right -thinking, is supporting the financial predictions, rejecting the war and the minorities. Mamdani’s campaign has a clear reply, which marries financial justice with moral clarity, combines various communities, and challenges the politics of fear. For progressives around the world, this is a rare and preaching blue print – not just for resistance but for rebuilding.
