The Zambian government surrendered claims of dangerous pollution in the Coppermnt Mining region, following safety concerns extended to the US Embassy.
On Wednesday, the US Embassy issued a health alert, immediately ordering Kitwe staff due to an area of water “February spill in Meal Alsals Mine.
The development occurred when a tailing dam, used to store toxic waste and heavy metals, crumpled with the river, a key source of water, after heavy rainfall.
The US Embassy says with new information showing “the size of hazards and carcinogenic substances”.
It warns beyond “contaminated water and land, contaminants from spilled my tails can also be airborne, a threat to health if inhaled”.
Zambia Cornelius Mweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetwa is hit by return, saying that the results of “laboratory shows that PH levels returned to normal” in place and water safe to drink.
Mweetwa said there is no serious implications for public health, water safety, agriculture or environment.

During the seizure, the Sino-metal promised to pay affected communities and restore the environment.
