Why the Indian Supreme Court’s decision to sell Flipkart in 2018 surprised investors


Delhi changed its tax rules in 2016, making profits from the sale of Indian shares taxed even under the treaties. Investments made before 1 April 2017, however, are exempt. Tiger Global said its investments in Flipkart are primarily revolving and, therefore, eligible for exemption.
