Grammy award winning singer Coco Jones was delighted to ask her to sing “Lift Every Voice and Sing” at the Super Bowl 2026 — and her biggest fan was there to cheer her on.
Seven-time NBA All-Star Donovan Mitchell was at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara to support his fiancée sang the black national anthem before the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots meet in the NFL Championship Game on February 8, 2026.
The Cleveland Cavaliers star has been one of Jones’ most vocal supporters since they started dating in 2023, and Jones made it clear in the days leading up to the Super Bowl that the opportunity would be a career highlight.
“This is the bee’s knees,” he said in a press conference on Thursday before the game. “I think this is one of the most watched events of all time. It’s hard to compete.
He added, jokingly, “Maybe my wedding will be up there. Maybe.”

Donovan Mitchell and Coco Jones started dating in 2023, and despite trying to keep their relationship private, fans of both were able to connect the dots. Jones joked about the online research during an appearance in February 2025 Shannon Sharpeof “Shay Shay Club” podcast, applauding followers for their effort.
“I love the internet because they definitely ticked my tea. I love that. Little spies everywhere. I feel like I’m in a detective movie,” she said.
Jones added, “I don’t ever want to feel like it has to be somebody’s secret. I don’t want anybody to feel like it’s mine. I think for me, I’m trying to protect myself, and I’m trying to protect my family and who I love. So yeah, I’m more private.”

“He’s amazing. He’s an amazing human being. He brings me peace,” she said. “Spending time with her on tour was really unique because you realize she travels and works just as hard as we do. On the tour bus, at night.”
He continued, “She’s a special human being. And you see it in her work, and to be able to call her my fiancée, my wife, is a blessing. So I’m grateful.”
Donovan Mitchell played college basketball at Louisville
Basketball fans first met Mitchell, affectionately known as “Spidah,” when he was in college, playing for the Hall of Fame head coach. Rick Pitino and the Louisville Cardinals. Despite coming off the bench as a freshman, Mitchell’s game took a leap in his sophomore year, when he averaged 15.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.
His breakout season led to the NBA Draft, where the Utah Jazz eventually took him with the 13th overall pick.

His most recent selection comes in the midst of the best season of his career. In 49 games leading up to the 2026 Super Bowl, Mitchell averaged a career-high 28.9 points, along with 4.6 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game.
