Eight years have passed since then Matt Lauer he was forced out of the following focus allegations of sexual misconduct. During this time, their three children have managed to stay mostly out of the spotlight.
Lauer married a Dutch model Annette Roque in 1998. The couple welcomed sons Jack and Thijs and daughter Romy.
Once Lauer’s alleged misconduct hit the headlines in 2017, he was fired from NBC after hosting on the network for more than two decades. (Lauer was accused by a colleague of inappropriate behavior during NBC’s coverage of the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, three years earlier.)
Lauer said in a statement at the time that he was “truly” sorry for the “pain I have caused others through my words and actions,” but the fallout from the scandal poisoned his career and affected his romantic relationship.

Roque filed for divorce in July 2019, and Lauer has since worked hard to rebuild his connection with his children. “He’s on good terms with his kids, which was the most important thing to him,” a source said explained exclusively Us Weekly in April 2024. “That wasn’t always the case after the divorce, but now it’s okay with the kids.”

Jack Lauer

Romy Lauer

Courtesy of Romy Lauer/InstagramRomy is the only daughter of Lauer and ex-wife Roque. She was born in October 2003. Romy made her television debut at the age of 3 when her father read her a story in a special episode of Sesame Street.
Over the years, Romy has focused on horse riding, having competed in show jumping and other events since she was young. Romy has it he continued to compete at a high level since going to the University of Miami in college in 2022.
Romy has dated a tennis player from the University of Miami Antonio Pratt since April 2023, according to his Instagram. “Happy to live by your side. 730 days. I love you ❤️,” wrote Prat via Instagram in April 2025, celebrating the couple’s second anniversary.
Romy hit the headlines in September 2024 when it was reported that she crashed a car into a fence in the Hamptons in July of that year. Romy received a traffic ticket for leaving the scene, he said people. He never went to trial over the incident.

Thijs is pronounced “Tice” and is a common short name for Matthijs (also known as the Dutch equivalent of Matthew). Roque is from the Netherlands and Lauer’s full name is Matthew, so Thijs is a nod to both parents.
Thijs was born two months after Roque filed for divorce from Lauer in September 2006, citing “cruel and inhumane” behavior. He withdrew his plea three weeks later, but the couple split for good in 2019.
Thijs stayed out of the limelight during his teenage years and into young adulthood. He has a social media account, but it’s private. Thijs, however, was spotted in a photo from a trip to Mongolia in 2023, which his sister, Romy, posted on his Instagram.
According to his Instagram bio, Thijs is a student at Boston College. Thijs was highlighted in June 2025 via Boston College 2030 Social Media Pagewhere he shared that he lived in Switzerland at a boarding school for three years before returning to the US for college. “I’m a Swiss ski instructor (I like to ski) and I like to go to the gym,” the profile read.
