Start spreading the news, Whitney Leavitt is officially headed to Broadway after competing Dancing with the stars season 34
News broke Monday, Dec. 1, that Leavitt, 32, is joining the cast Chicago for six weeks as Roxie Hart next year. He begins his list of performances on February 2nd and will continue until March 15th.
Leavitt previously hinted at his move to the Broadway stage during a recent appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast. with DWTS partner Marc Ballas.
“There are two things I’m going to tease,” the reality star said on the Wednesday, Nov. 26, podcast. “One, I just booked my first movie, which is really exciting.”
Leavitt said the second piece of news would receive its official announcement the following week. “What I can say is that a dance that Mark and I performed with Dancing with the stars will come to life,” he hinted. “And on Monday, everyone will know.”
The Secret Lives of Mormon Women estrella and Ballas, 39, were eliminated just before the final of DWTS in one of the most shocking votes of the season. Throughout the competition, Leavitt and Ballas wowed viewers and judges with their precision and creativity, especially with their Argentine tango Chicagothe iconic “Cell Block Tango” during week 9.
Leavitt is not the first DWTS alum to take the stage as Roxie Hart. Ariana Madix landed the Broadway role in 2024 after competing in season 32 with pro Pasha Pashkov. (The Vanderpump Rules the alum finished it DWTS run third.)
Before being sent home from the DWTS ballroom, Leavitt faced criticism online for his previous experience in dance. Some fans also claimed that ABC shows demonstrated favoritism towards Ballas.
The duo candidly addressed all of the Internet chatter during their “Call Her Daddy” episode.
“I think with the intensity of the show and how big it’s gotten, which I love so much, everyone has been reacting online,” Ballas said. “It wasn’t just us. Yeah, ours was really intense, but when something is that big, I’m sure, you know, there’s always going to be naysayers. There’s always going to be people who hate you. I think there was like a window of weeks where it was, like, shit.”

Ballas said the comment was “relentless” throughout the show, but Leavitt acknowledged he had become “desensitized” to the hateful rhetoric since then. Mormon Wives
“I’ve lived it for years,” he added. “But I think, like, what was kind of triggering was seeing somebody experience that for the first time for something, for what? Like, it just didn’t make sense to me. And then, sometimes I also felt like it was my fault because I was like, ‘Oh, like, maybe… it’s my fault, maybe because (Mark is) partnered with me.’
despite be a leader for most of the season, Leavitt, who admitted that he only appeared in season 3 of Mormon Wives for a shot a DWTS — he implied that he knew he wouldn’t walk away with the mirror ball trophy.
“I never thought I was winning Dancing with the stars. I really didn’t … But I wanted that experience,” he said. “And I hope that anyone who had a dream or something that they want in their life or (to) experience … would pursue it.”
