Country of Fire isn’t the only CBS show going on right now through a surprising change of showrunner.
In January 2026, the news of this showrunner occurred Aunt Napolitano left after multiples outputs to the screen.
“Tia has been instrumental in helping build and direct Fire Country, which not only became a top-rated series, but is also the foundation of a growing universe,” CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach and CBS Studios President David Stapf said in a joint statement. “We are grateful for all of her contributions and tireless work, and look forward to working with her on future projects.”
Napolitano has been with the show since its 2022 premiere on CBS. Before his departure, Napolitano spoke exclusively Us Weekly about what fans could expect of the rest of the fourth season.
“(You should) be worried. We’ve got Bode and Tyler in a fire shelter in the middle of a fire. These things are made for one, there’s two lives,” Napolitano shared in December 2025. “And we’ve got Jake and his brother on the side of a cliff. You see how many times that vehicle crashes head-on.”
Napolitano said these are “not easy things to come back from,” adding, “We’re going to see how our people fight to get out of there.” He also revealed that there was a “big twist” in the midseason premiere.
The showrunner change came later budget cuts caused Billy Burke i Estefania Arcilathe exits Elsewhere on the web, NCIS‘ prequel series NCIS: Origins i F.B.I spin-off C.I.A also faced some behind-the-scenes changes.

“Land of Fire”

Napolitano released a statement in January 2026, which read, “I am beyond proud of the last four seasons of Fire Country. All my thanks to our cast, crew, writers, producers, fans, and of course CBS and CBS Studios. It’s been a beautiful ride!”
Multiple outlets included Deadline reported that a replacement for Napolitano not yet found.
“NCIS: Origins”

Erik Voake/CBSIt was confirmed in January 2026 that co-showrunner Miss Lucita Monreal exits the show at the end of season 2. David J. North will remain and act as sole showrunner in his absence.
“Gina has been an important and beloved member of the ‘NCIS’ family for many years,” CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach and CBS Studios President David Stapf said in a joint statement. “We are incredibly grateful to her for helping to launch and direct NCIS: Origins and bring these incredible characters and stories to life. We look forward to working with her again in the future on new projects and know that the creative foundation she helped build will continue to thrive.”
Monreal released his own statement about the surprise exit. “It has been the greatest honor of my career to write ‘NCIS: Origin’ alongside my amazing co-showrunner and friend David North,” he wrote. “I want to thank Amy Reisenbach, David Stapf and everyone at CBS Network and Studio for their support.”
He continued, “Having had this opportunity to work again with the incomparable Mark Harmon, Sean Harmon, our writers and the best cast and crew in the business, how lucky am I? I can’t wait to see what this extraordinary group has in store for Season 3.”
‘CIA’

In April 2025, CBS gave C.I.A a direct to the series starring order Tom Ellis i Nick Gehlfuss. Originally slated for a fall 2025 release, C.I.A he was pushed to midseason after that Warren Leight replaced FBI: Most Wanted‘s David Hudgins as showrunner.
The changes kept coming when Michael Michele, one of the stars of the series, left in November 2025. Days later, Eric La Salle he left the series as an executive producer. It was tied to C.I.A from its conception and directed the pilot before its departure.
