The Trump administration says it will withdraw The United States from 66 international organizations, including 31 UN organizations and 35 non-UN organizations.
Many focus on climate, labor, immigration and other issues that the Trump administration has classified as diversity and “vigilante” initiatives and are “against the interests of the United States.”

In the new memorandum, the administration went beyond the Paris Agreement and targeted the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the 1992 framework agreement that builds on the Paris Agreement. By withdrawing from the UNFCCC, the administration aims to withdraw from the entire international framework of climate negotiations.
Withdrawal from the UNFCCC is particularly important because it is a Senate-approved treaty. The administration’s authority to unilaterally withdraw from such agreements is expected to face legal challenges.

Notably, the US remains a member of the UN Security Council, the World Food Program (WFP), and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), which the administration has identified as serving essential security or humanitarian functions.
