The Epstein files released in January 2026 included several documents of alleged correspondence between Attia and Epstein. In fact, it is estimated that Attia’s name was included about 1,800 times in the documents.
“I met Epstein in 2014 through a prominent health leader while raising funds for scientific research,” Attia told his statement on social networks. “At the time, he was widely known in academic and philanthropic circles as a science funder and moved openly between credible institutions and public figures.”
“About seven or eight occasions” were known between 2024 and 2019 in New York City, Attia alleged on social media.
“I never visited his island or ranch, and I never flew in one of his planes,” Attia added. “In retrospect, the presence and credibility of such venerable people in different orbits led me to make assumptions about him that clouded my judgment in a way I shouldn’t have.”
He added: “To be clear, I never witnessed any illegal behavior and I never saw anyone who appeared underage in their presence.”
