Warrington Wolves have confirmed captain George Williams will leave when his contract expires at the end of the 2026 season.
The England captain has scored 35 tries in 91 appearances for the Wyres but will seize the opportunity in the NRL in 2027.
“Warrington has been a big part of my life and I’ve loved every minute of my time at the club,” Williams said in a club press release. “Captain of this team and getting the guys to perform every week is something I will always be incredibly proud of.
“Me and the club have always been very open with each other and I am grateful for the understanding and support they have shown me.”
“My focus is now fully on this season. I will continue to give everything I have for the badge, the playing group and the fans. I am determined to finish my time here on a high.”
Williams previously played in Australia for the Canberra Raiders in 2020 and 2021 and was the subject of interest from down under at the end of the 2025 season.
His side open the season at home to St Helens at 8pm on Friday, February 13. live in the sky
