Victoria Beckham recalls ‘Great memories’ with her children amid Brooklyn drama

Victoria Beckham is reflecting on a cherished family moment shared between the husband David Beckham and his three sons, Brooklyn, Romeo i crossin the midst of the family’s ongoing conflicts.

In one Instagram shared post on Thursday, January 22, photographer Platon Antoniou shared a series of photos from a 2006 photoshoot with David, now 50.

“In 2006 I traveled to Madrid to photograph David Beckham,” Antoniou wrote. “She was playing for REAL MADRID and by now she was one of the biggest superstars in the world. Her family came to visit her that day. Victoria arrived with Brooklyn, who was seven, Romeo, who was four, and Cruz, who was just a baby.”

Antoniou continued, “Brooklyn and Romeo came into the studio with soccer teams, kicking balls, doing headers and other tricks. While Victoria was busy with the kids, I started working with David. At one point, Brooklyn ran onto the set with the soccer ball under his arm and hugged his father’s right leg. Romeo then joined his older brother. Then the Cruz family also pulled away from his older brother for a personal and heartfelt group hug. It was a heartwarming thing: that spontaneous moment of affection that happens in a giant photograph in front of 60 people comes at a huge price, and it’s often family members who pay, too.

Antoniou noted that “seeing that tenderness was very touching,” adding that “I knew it would make a beautiful picture, especially since this famous family (was) not in front of my camera.”

“But my portraits are always collaborative and I’m never comfortable stealing a moment,” she wrote. “Had I taken a single frame, it would have betrayed trust and invaded privacy. So I put down the camera and took a picture with just my eyes.”

Antoniou continued: “After the session, I approached Victoria and asked her if we could recreate the family hug that I had seen from my perspective. She smiled softly and said, “Thank you for not taking this picture earlier. I’m not here today as a celebrity, I’m here as a mother. I hope you don’t mind if it happens respectfully.”

Antoniou shared that he found Victoria’s “human response dignified and sincere.”

“Then, sensing my slight disappointment, Victoria said, ‘But David’s going to shoot back.'” So I photographed David all by himself looking the other way: a naked man, no belt, no designer shirt, no fancy watch,” he wrote.

Alongside the post, Antoniou shared a black-and-white photo of David shirtless and looking away from the camera, with his ‘Brooklyn’ and ‘Romeo’ and ‘Cruz’ tattoos visible as he wet jeans. (David and Victoria, 51, also shares daughter Harper Seven14.)

In another image, David turned his head halfway towards the camera and looked off into the distance.

“I’m usually drawn to the eyes, but when we can’t see the face we look for other clues that might reveal someone’s humanity,” he concluded. “In this picture, even though David is alone, we see the love of his children tattooed on his back. Family is everything. David Beckham, I salute you.”
