
Countless additional people died and 2.5 million lost access to drugs to prevent the spread of HIV and AIDS. That’s because of massive cuts to global aid programs since US President Donald Trump returned to the White House in January. UNAIDS warns that unless the situation improves, funding cuts will mean an additional 3.3 million people will become infected with HIV over the next five years. On World AIDS Day, we spoke in perspective with Christine Stegling, Deputy Executive Director of the Policy, Advocacy and Knowledge Branch at UNAIDS.
