The United Nations and France have condemned it Israel’s attack which attacked United Nations peacekeeping forces in southern Lebanon.
UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said on Monday that the previous day’s attack on UNIFIL troops, which he said included an Israeli drone dropping grenades on a patrol area, as well as a tank firing on peacekeepers near the border town of Kfar Qila, was “very, very dangerous”.

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) works with the Lebanese army to enforce a ceasefire between Israel and the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah last year. Israel has violated the ceasefire Almost every day.
France’s Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs also condemned the “Israeli fire targeting the UNIFIL contingent”, noting that the incidents followed similar attacks on 1, 2 and 11 October.
Dujarric said: “We feel that we have been targeted (by the Israeli military, including) in various ways, with lasers or warning shots. He said his colleagues at UNIFIL were in contact with the Israeli army to “strongly condemn” the attacks.
On Sunday, UNIFIL said an Israeli drone was flying over its patrols in an “aggressive manner”, adding that its peacekeepers “implemented the necessary defensive countermeasures to neutralize the drone”. No injuries or damage were reported.
Israel still occupies five positions in southern Lebanon and has launched almost daily attacks in violation of the ceasefire. At least two brothers were killed in an attack on Monday in Al-Bayd village in Tire district.
Two people were killed in an attack on a sawmill in Al-Bayd, Lebanon’s official news agency ANI said.
Three people were killed on Sunday in raids in southern and eastern Lebanon.
The military says it is targeting Hezbollah members and its infrastructure, but Lebanese leaders have accused it of trying to hinder reconstruction with machinery such as digging and bulldozers.
The Israeli military said its Sunday raid targeted an arms dealer working for Hezbollah and “another individual who is assisting the group’s efforts to rebuild its military operations capabilities”.
Hezbollah, severely weakened by Israeli attacks, has said it is ready to defend itself. “The possibility of war exists but is uncertain; it depends on their calculations,” Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem said in reference to Israel.
The United States government is pressuring Lebanon to demand that the group surrender its weapons to the country’s military.
US Middle East envoy Morgan Ortagus arrived in Beirut late on Monday, where she will meet with Lebanese leaders.
