One person has been killed and three injured in a Ukrainian drone strike in the Russian city of Voronezh, according to local authorities.
Governor Alexander Gusev said in a social media post on Sunday that a young woman died overnight in a hospital’s intensive care unit after drone debris fell on a house during the attack.
Three other people were injured overnight and more than 10 apartment buildings, private homes and a high school were damaged, he said, adding that air defenses shot down 17 drones over Voronezh, a city of more than 17 million people.

There was no immediate comment from Ukraine about what happened in Voronezh, but it said it strikes targets inside Russia to disrupt the Kremlin’s war effort and in response to repeated missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure, including energy facilities.

In northwest Ukraine’s Zhytomyr region, Governor Vitaly Bunechko said overnight attacks targeted critical infrastructure, resulting in the hospitalization of two workers who suffered moderate injuries.
Separately, Ukraine’s state emergency service said four people were wounded in the attack on the village of Movchani, south of Kharkiv, the country’s second-largest city, about 30km (18.6 miles) from the Russian border.
“Destruction and damage to residential buildings as well as fire to an area of 150 square meters (1,614 square feet),” it said.
