The leading commander of Ukraine’s military says that its forces are still defending a small area of territory within Russia it has been obtained almost a year ago.
On August 2024 Ukraine launched a surprise attraction to the Kursk region, taking more than 1,000 sq km (386 sq miles) in Russian land.
Commander-In-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky says 10,000 Russian troops attempted to give up his forces.
While Russia often insists that it took the whole region, Syrsky said on Sunday that Ukraine still holds 90 sq miles) in the Kursk region.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Syrsky promised to increase “measure and depth” of strikes in Russia.
“Of course, let’s continue,” he said.
“Given that we did not fight against the population, we fought and destroyed military targets.”
Ukraine seized dozen villages in the Kursk region shortly after the investigation began on 6 August 2024.
President Voltodyrr Zelensky said Kursk Operation has established a buffer zone that prevents Russian forces from the keys in front of eastern Ukraine.
