Two US soldiers and a US Civilian Inclerster were killed in Syria in an ambush by a lone gunman with the Islamic state, the US military said.
Three other service members were injured in the attack, in which the gunman “engaged and was killed”.
The identities of those killed were withheld for 24 hours until their next of kin were notified.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, said: “Let it be known, if you target the American people – anywhere in the world you know what has happened to the United States that you can find the United States, find you, and brutally kill you.”
