Turkish authorities arrested many people for “social media posts, after preventing the mayor of Istanbul Ekrem Imamoglu on Wednesday.
Imamoglu is one of more than 100 people held in cases including corruption and terrorist groups – a step that is running protest in Istanbul and the capital Ankara.
A member of the Secular Party of People Party, Imamoglu is a major opposite of President Preside Recep Tayyip Erdogan in 2028 elections this week.
Critics describe his arrest as “a coup” and planned further demonstration, despite Istanbul’s governor of the four-day ban on protests.
The Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced on Thursday morning police recognized 261 “Suspect Account Managers” online.
They say posting the content that breaks the laws of “public motivation to hate and disgust” and “encourage to do a crime”.
“Thirty-seven suspects were arrested and the efforts continue to catch other suspects,” he said more than 18.6 million posts appeared in the 0600 hours on Wednesday (0300 GMT) on Thursday.
But these efforts so far have not prevented demonstrators.
Tens of thousands gathered outside Istanbul’s City Hall on Wednesday. Some ask for government resignation, while others recover “Erdogan, dictator”.

The police chase demonstrators in many places, firing tear gas and pepper spray.
Turkey authorities also prevented using social media across the country after winning Wednesday, including whatsapp use, According to the Watch NetBlock in the UK in the UK.
Many police officers were involved in Imamoglu’s house attack in Istanbul early Wednesday morning.
He is one of 106 people who are detained in operation.
Arrests come as part of a major cracking country in recent months, targeting politicians in opposition, municipalities, reporters and numbers in entertainment industry.
Local prosecutors also informed Thursday they obtained a construction company owned by Istanbul Mayor, as part of the investigation of alleged financial crimes.
Opposition numbers say that arrests are politically motivated. But the justice of the Wednesday was criticized the Erdogan involved in arrests, and forced their judicial freedom.
In the past year, Imamoglu won a second term as Istanbul’s mayor, when his Chp party repaired local elections there and in Ankara.
This is the first time from President Erdogan’s power that his party was defeated nationwide in the ballot box.
The election is also a personal erosion of the President, who has grown and becomes the Mayor of Istanbul in his rise in power.
Erdogan has duty in the last 22 years, as Prime Minister and President of Turkey. Due to term limits, he cannot go to the office again in 2028, unless he changed the Constitution.
Choosing the company’s pross company, where Imamoglu is the only person who runs, is set to happen on Sunday.
Opposition groups now call for demonstrations that day.
