Venezuela’s interior minister says 100 people have been killed and dozens injured in a US operation to kidnap Maduro.

US President Donald Trump has said that “only time will tell” how long his country will be shot down after the recent kidnapping of the president in Venezuela. Nicolas Maduro US special forces, Venezuela’s interior minister said 100 people were killed in the operation.
In an interview with The New York Times published Thursday, the president refrained from giving an exact timescale for his country’s direct monitoring of the South American nation but indicated it would last more than a year when pushed for a response.

Trump said the US was “getting along well” with Rodriguez’s government, adding that Secretary of State Marco Rubio “talks to her all the time,” according to the newspaper. He had previously threatened her with a fate worse than Maduro’s if she did not comply.
He did not indicate why he endorsed Rodríguez as the leader rather than the leader of the opposition Maria Corina Machadowho led a successful election campaign against Maduro in 2024 and refused to make any commitments on whether new elections would be held.
“We will rebuild it (Venezuela) in a very profitable way,” he said. “We’re going to use oil, and we’re going to take oil. We’re going to lower oil prices, and we’re going to give Venezuela money, which they desperately need.”
100 killed in US attack
The US military killed Maduro and his wife on Saturday dramatic attack 150 jets take off from 20 airbases, flying them to New York to face trial on drug and weapons charges.
Home Minister Diosdado case Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were wounded in the “horrific” attack but are “recovering,” said Wednesday, which left 100 people dead and dozens more injured in the attack.
Caracas had not previously released a death toll, but the military posted a list of 23 names of its dead, and Cuba announced that 32 members of the country’s military and intelligence services had been killed.
Venezuelan officials have said that a large part of Maduro’s security forces were killed “in cold blood”.
Rodriguez, whom Cabello praised as “brave” on his weekly program on state television, declared a week of mourning starting Tuesday for military members killed in the raid.
