We’re gathered here today to celebrate the lives of shows that didn’t happen 2025.
As unfortunately happens every year, many series fail to live up to the rich and full life they may have been promised.
Watch with us You hate to see a good show end too soon, so we’ve selected and ranked a list of five of the best series that ended this year but deserved to continue.
Be sure to watch them now to honor their memories.
5. “The Franchise” (2024)
from Armando Iannucci i Jim Brown – two of the creatives behind it Veep — this satirical comedy series puts “cinematic universes” into play by offering a behind-the-scenes look at the making of a superhero movie. Titled “Tecto: Eye of the Storm,” the fictional film is a lower-tier, less-loved installment of his global superhero franchise, and we’re following characters like a new producer (Oh Cash) studio executive (Darren Goldstein), first assistant director (Himesh Patel), director (Daniel Brühle) and main actor (Billy Magnussen) all involved in chaotic production.
Loaded with funny lines and cutting jokes, The Franchise it’s very much a show from the guy who gave it to us Veep. It’s another scathing demolition of the industry that trashes the ineptitude of the powers that be and hapless characters and caricatures who are clueless and barely do their jobs. While the low ratings hurt this show, if you’re a fan of scathing insults and sharp parody, The Franchise it’s for you

4. “And so” (2021-2025)
In the following two decades Sex and the City is overwe reunite with our favorite New York City women as they transition from 30 to 50, still navigating the perils of love and friendship in the city while dealing with death, marriages, children, and new beginnings. Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) pursues a new relationship, Charlotte (Kristin Davis) juggles his eclectic family and Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) deals with a shocking loss (i Kim Cattrall’s absence).
while And so received extremely mixed reviews from viewers and critics throughout its three seasons, fans of the original series were still on the lookout for a guilty pleasure watch. While the show struggled to be current in a way that felt both insightful and fresh, its stumbles provided more humor and intrigue than the creators might have hoped for, and fans still loved hanging out with their flawed TV girlfriends.

3. “Resident Alien” (2021-2025)
An alien sent to wipe out all life on planet Earth (Alan Tudyk) lands in a small town in Colorado and assumes the identity of the town doctor, Harry Vanderspeigle. Although he still tries to complete his task, his mission is compromised when he discovers that a local boy can see his true form. Forced to assimilate with the townspeople, the new Harry finds himself increasingly compassionate towards the humans he interacts with, further complicating his deadly protocol.
An official reason for the cancellation has not been confirmed, but the series was on life support when it moved to USA Network after season 3. Regardless of why Resident alien is leaving us, more than succeeds as a fun blend of sci-fi and comedy with a winning performance from Tudyk.

2. “The Sex Life of College Girls” (2021-2025)
At the fictional Essex College in Vermont, four 18-year-old freshmen get used to their new school and all the excitement and drama that comes with it, particularly their intimate trials. Follow Kimberly (Pauline Chalamet), Leighton (Renee Rapp), Beautiful (Amrit Kaur), and Whitney (Alyah Chanelle Scott) as they navigate the sex, friendships and struggles of adulthood.
The sexual life of university girls tackles resonant themes of personal identity, sexuality and sexual assault with a gentle and tactful hand. The popular series didn’t get the ratings HBO wanted, and although it looked for a new home, it ultimately couldn’t find one. It’s a shame, because the series is an incredibly warm, funny and truthful take on coming of age in a college setting.

1. “The Fair Gems” (2019-2025)
The fair gemstones creator and star, Danny McBrideonce said he might keep doing seasons of his popular televangelist satire for a long time, so fans were shocked when it was announced that Season 4 would be the series’ last. While it’s meant to be a voluntary and natural conclusion to the four-season series, some fans can’t help but think it was cut too soon.
Regardless, The fair gemstones is a hilarious, well-written and superbly acted game of megachurches and celebrity preachers that will be an instant hit with anyone who was a fan of McBride’s previous HBO series. East and down i Vice Chancellors As well as being very critical of the millionaire and profitable “servants of God”. The fair gemstones it’s also a truly gripping character drama whose hideous protagonists you can’t help but love
