‘Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere’ (2025)
How well you know it Bruce Springsteen? Beyond “Born in the USA” and the rock legend’s iconic status, you might not know that in the early 1980s he was struggling with what to do next in his then-blooming career. After watching the 1973 crime drama Badlands starring Martin Sheen i Sissy SpacekSpringsteen (Jeremy Allen White) decides his next album, Nebraskawill move away from their usual traditional rock style and focus on the dark side of the American dream. This makes everyone around him nervous, especially his longtime coach, Jon Landau (Jeremy Strong), but Springsteen is determined to make his vision a reality. Will Nebraska make or break your career?
Chances are, you know the answer. But what does it do? Deliver me from nothing so fascinating is watching Springsteen prepare what will eventually be regarded by rock critics as his best album. As Bruce, Allen White gets every visual and aural detail right: him is the Boss, from head to toe to every vocal grunt. Strong is equally good as Springsteen’s manager, who puts aside his own skepticism to help his client and friend realize his dream.

“Safe House” (2025)
After a bomb explodes in downtown Los Angeles, five armed government agents head to a local safe house overseen by Anderson (Emily in Paris star Lucien Laviscount) for shelter. Once there, it is discovered that the bomb detonator signal came from someone in the safe house. None of them can leave until the culprit is revealed, but how is that possible when everyone, including Anderson, is the prime suspect?
That’s the delicious setup for Safe House, a new action thriller that quietly debuted last year and is now streaming on Hulu. coasting thrones actress Hannah John-Kamen i Mortal Kombat‘s Lewis Tanthis claustrophobic film builds a lot of suspense simply by letting its six characters figure out which one of them is a killer. Since they’ve all killed before because of their line of work, it’s not that easy for any of them, or the audience, to guess who the attack is. For all their rage, they’re six rats in a cage, and it’s entertaining to see which, if any, make it out alive.
Safe House is streaming on Hulu.
‘Wicked Little Letters’ (2024)
Edith Swan (Olivia Colman) is a devout Christian who is generally well-liked in her small English town. That’s why it’s so shocking when he receives dirty letters filled with obscene and borderline language in 1920. Everyone is suspicious of his neighbor, the newly arrived Irish immigrant Rose (Jessie Buckley), but she insists she is innocent. While Rose is on trial, an enterprising young officer, Gladys (Anjana Vasan), suspects that someone else is to blame for terrorizing Edith. Can she gather enough evidence in time to save Rose from doing time for a crime she didn’t commit?
Evil little letters continues an old tradition of English cinema: the cozy mystery of use. Unlike most films of this subgenre, there are no murders to solve; instead, the stakes are kept extremely low and it’s largely played for laughs. Those laughs come from the comedic timing of previous Oscar winner Colman and Buckley, who is the favorite to win best actress this year for her fine work in Hamnet. She’s not so serious here, and viewers who know her from her dramatic work will love seeing her play a marginalized woman who doesn’t mind using a lot of expletives to make her point.
