The US is transferring Islamic State prisoners from Syria to Iraq




The US military has begun transferring up to 7,000 Islamic State (IS) detainees from prisons in northeastern Syria to Iraq, as Syria’s new government asserts control over territories long held autonomously by Kurdish-led forces. US Central Command (Centcom) reported that 150 IS fighters have already been transferred from Hasaka province to a “safe location” in Iraq. Charlotte Lam reports.
