Maybe you don’t need an AI smart ring to get your job done. Doistthe company behind Todoist, the popular to-do list app that works on multiple devices, is launching a new AI-powered “voice-to-tasks” feature: Todoist Ramble. The feature allows you to describe tasks using natural language.
True to its name, Ramble can take an unstructured speech and turn it into an organized task. The app will also capture other details you specify, such as project deadlines, priorities, durations, and assignees.

The idea is that people often think about what to do when they travel, but picking up their phone to jot down notes or make reminders can be a challenge. With Todoist Ramble, you still have to pick up your phone, but you don’t have to type anything. Instead, you’ll just tap the Ramble icon and start talking. The app will then update in real-time with task information, even responding to edits and changes as you speak.
For example, the company notes you can say things like “Actually, make it on Thursday” or “that’s all,” to direct the AI as you speak.
Ramble is built on a large language model (LLM) as part of a suite of AI features the company calls Todoist Helpwhich uses the Google Gemini 2.5 Flash Live model through Vertex AI for real-time speech understanding. As the audio streams to the back end, the model transcribes your speech and identifies tasks, dates, and other details you mention to create tasks.
The audio is not stored or used for AI training, and the app is SOC2 Type II certified, the company, Doist, said.

AI functionality is similar to what we see emerging in various hardware AI devices, which transcribe speech to turn it into notes, reminders, tasks, or insights. For example, The Amazon Bee wearable uses AI to record and create recommendations, while other devices, such as from Plaudcan take meeting notes and eliminate highlights.
There is also growing interest in AI-powered smart rings, like the Ring Stream from the beginning of Sandbar, or Pebble’s upcoming Index 01 ring. Both allow you to quickly press a ring (which you wear on your index finger) to add to a to-do list or make a note in a friend’s mobile app.
Before launch, Ramble was beta-tested with all Todoist Experiment users, a group of around 150,000 active testers who try out new features early. In the first three weeks of testing, some 76,000 testers completed approximately 290,000 Ramble sessions on desktop and mobile. The feature then entered public beta testing in November.
Job creation success also improved from about 40% last October to about 62% in December, and that’s an upgrade, Doist said. New users on the entry-level plan were upgrading at a rate roughly five times higher than before using Ramble, he said.
Todoist Ramble is available to all users on iOS, Android, desktop, and web starting today and supports 38 languages. Beginner plan users can also access the feature, but with limited sessions per month. Pro and Business paid plans offer unlimited sessions. For easy access, these features can be used via Home Screen or Lock Screen shortcuts on iOS and via app shortcuts, widgets, and quick settings boxes on Android.
