Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa announced a deal with the head of Kurdish-led forces on Sunday that includes a ceasefire, after government troops advanced across Kurdish-held areas in the north and east of the country. Syrian Kurdish leader Mazlum Abdi said he agreed to the deal to avoid a wider war.
