The Pitt‘s Noah Wyle couldn’t be happier to be reunited with the old IS to cost George Clooney during the 2026 awards circuit.
After The Pitt he got two wins in 2026 Golden Globe on Sunday, January 11, Wyle, 54, reflected on the support he received, explaining Us Weekly and other reporters in the press room, “(George) was sitting right next to the stage. We all had to hug him on the way up.”
Wyle noted that he and Clooney, 64, already had a “lovely meeting” at the adult film awards with AARP in Los Angeles the night before.
“This show has brought back a lot of old memories,” he continued. “There’s a lot of connected tissue involved.”
Wyle concluded, “Obviously, we’re interested in honoring the exact same community that we honored the first time. It’s been really nice to hear from my (former co-stars) that they’re really happy for us in this endeavor.”

Before the HBO Max series became an awards season hit, Wyle opened up bring the show out.
“(Fellow EP) John (Wells), Max, and Warner Brothers were on board to try to make use of this new streaming platform, to see whether or not we could tell the story in a more visually appealing way than in the ’90s,” Wyle explained to TV Line in January 2025. “It’s a more photorealistic way than what we were acting based on and organically. It’s no longer conforming to the standards, the practices and the language (barriers), you can really paint with all the colors of the palette. The question is not, ‘What can you show?’
Wyle added that he found it “very rewarding” to play another doctor.
“I wanted it to feel like it felt before, and what it hadn’t felt like in a long time. Could we feel like that again? John and (creator) R. Scott (Gemmill) were on board because they, too, have been looking for that feeling that we all had 15 years ago, when we first did this,” he continued. “The work felt good, and we had fun, and we enjoyed ourselves while we were doing it, and everyone was respectful. It was inclusive, and it was innovative. And we wanted to see if lightning could strike twice, and in a way, it has.”
Clooney has been supportive ever since of Wyle’s success with The Pittsharing a June 2025 episode of Late Night With Seth Meyers, “Have you seen that show? It’s so good. I have to say, we’ve been really good friends since (ER), since we did the pilot for the show.”
He continued, “He’s the most honorable and most talented young man, (which) I can say because I’m an older man. I couldn’t be happier for his success on the show. The show is just a beautiful show, and he’s doing a great job with it.”
Clooney recalled struggling to remember medical terms during his time in the ER, but Wyle “never had a problem.” Clooney scoffed, “He could always do it, and I hated him for it.”
The Pitt airs Thursdays on HBO Max.
