The Japanese prime minister is “in an enviable position” ahead of the early elections, says an expert




Japan’s 64-year-old Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, has sparked an unlikely youth-led frenzy that could propel her to a landslide election victory. Speaking to FRANCE 24’s Sharon Gaffney, Amy Katalinac, an associate professor of politics at New York University, says Takaichi has “a high rate of cross-generational support” and “a large share of the so-called ‘floating voters’ look like they will support the LDP on Sunday”.
