A Bangladeshi court on Monday sentenced British MP Tulip Siddique and her mother Sheikh Rehani, sister of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, to prison terms for corruption in connection with a land grab in the capital. Siddiq, who was tried in absentia, called the trial a “persecution and a farce”.
