For US President Donald Trump, mocking a country or a leader isn’t just a reality TV soundbite, it’s an early warning sign of military action. Trump scorned Nicolas Maduro for “playing hardball” before kidnapping the Venezuelan leader. Now he speaks disparagingly of Denmark “adding two more dog sleds” to defend Greenland. European countries seem to be taking this latest threat seriously, but can they really stop Trump from taking over Greenland? And how do they navigate this crisis when they also have to stay focused on Ukraine? We ask these questions to Rasmus Jarlov, chairman of the defense committee in the Danish parliament.
