Twenty-seven soldiers captured by local locals in Colombia since the weekend were released by a military operation, the Colombian minister said.
The minister Peter Sánchez, said no one shot shot in his so-called “operation justice”.
Soldiers were caught in the Cauca region, a group of groups of EMC rebels, engaged in cocaine and trafficking production.
Mr. Sánchez blamed the EMC for what he described ‘kidnapping “, saying that the locals covered them were commanded to do such rebels.
The Colombia military says the incident triggered to arrest a suspected EMC rebel on Saturday.
As the soldiers prepared to distribute the suspect from the mountainous area, they were surrounded by more than 100 people.
The second military unit previously seized the next day by a larger group of locals, said Hagad Erick Rodríuez in Colombia Army.
This is not the first time that members of the security forces are detached by locals, but the size of the soldiers is not generally large.
In the past similar moments, the locals negotiate with humanitarian groups and captive soldiers easily released.
But this time, those who hold 57 refused to talk to any go-betwork, which prompts deployment of additional troops in the area to save the captive soldiers.
Many armed buildings were given to the area and arrested 20 people, the Minister of Defense said.
According to military estimates, more than 90% of the inhabitants of the area relied on gardening of Coca Bushes – the plant used to make cocaine – for a living.
The presence of soldiers in the area is often seen as a direct threat.
The region also sued many armed groups releasing farmers and landlords, and engaged in illegal mining and cocaine trafficking.
