The best and worst of the 2026 Golden Globes: Nikki Glaser and more


Awards season is here and the Golden Globes 2026 they did their best to bring the party.

As Hollywood’s top film and television stars attended the Beverly Hilton on Sunday, January 11, as host Nikki Glaser he made it clear during her opening monologue that the three-hour broadcast would be a night to remember.

“Yeah, the Golden Globes, definitely the biggest thing going on in the world right now,” he joked at the top of the show. “Tonight, we’re celebrating the best of TV and film right here in the heart of Los Angeles, where no TV or film has been made for the past six years.”

While Glaser mocked a variety of stars – everyone from Leonardo DiCaprio a Kevin Hart got a LOL-worthy joke: The comedian also poked fun at herself.

Yes, I’m your host, but I’m honestly a huge fan.”

Best Monologue Joke: Nikki Glaser on Leonardo DiCaprio

While many celebrities took the hot seat during Nikki Glaser’s opening monologue, Leonardo DiCaprio was a real MVP when the comedian poked fun at his dating life.

“Leonardo DiCaprio is here for One man bun after another,” Glaser said, referring to DiCaprio’s nominated film One battle after another. “How good Leo was One battle after another? It’s crazy, so good. What a career you’ve had, countless iconic performances. You’ve worked with all the great directors. You won three Golden Globes, an Oscar; the most important thing is that you achieved all this before your girlfriend turned 30. I mean, it’s crazy.”

Shortly after, the comedian apologized for the joke, but claimed there was nothing else he could find about him online. Fortunately, he found an “in-depth interview” to which he granted Teen Beat magazine in 1991.

“Your favorite food is still pasta, pasta and more pasta,” she asked, before DiCaprio laughed and gave her a playful thumbs up.

After winning Best Actor in a Television Series – Drama for his role as Dr. Robby a The Pitt, Noah Wyle he was quick to express gratitude to the people outside of Hollywood who made him the award-winning actor he is today.

“I have been very blessed in my life. I was raised in a family that placed a high priority on art, curiosity and service,” he shared with the audience. “I’ve had amazing teachers and amazing advice from some really good friends, and I’ve had the support of an amazing wife and three amazing kids along the way. I’m so grateful for that. And thank you to all the health professionals in the world.”

Best Tearful Acceptance Speech: Teyana Taylor

In accepting the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture, thanks to her role in One battle after another, Teyana Taylor she couldn’t hold back the tears in her emotional speech.

“My babies are upstairs watching. You better get off those damn phones and look at me right now!” Taylor, who shares daughters Junie, 10, and Rue, 5, with ex-husband Iman Shumpert he said “In the name of Jesus, thank you for every part of this: every lesson, every trial, every blessing. Thank you to the Golden Globe voters for seeing me and reminding me that this purpose always finds its time. To my tribe, my grounded strength, my joy and my daily reminder that love is an action, not just a word, and everything I do is rooted in that truth.”

While awards shows always lead to obligatory fashion and unpredictable acceptance speeches, they also lead to some rare public sightings of Hollywood’s biggest couples.

Although Timothée Chalamet walked the red carpet solo, he was able to reunite with his girlfriend inside. And yes, Kylie Jenner was in his seat when Chalamet won Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for his performance in Martí Suprem.

Other couples seen enjoying date night included Mila Kunis i Ashton Kutcher, Julia Roberts i Danny Moder i selena gomez i Benny Blanco.

Best Assistant: Amy Poehler

Leave it to one of the best podcast nominees (i eventual winner) to bring the party into the Golden Globes 2026. During his acceptance speech, Amy Poehler reminded everyone that awards are not this serious

“It’s exactly how I imagined it, Snoop (Dogg) giving me the award,” he joked. “Come on, I don’t know about award shows, but when they do it right, it makes sense.”

Later in the show, Poehler helped host Nikki Glaser find Jeremy StrongHe is missing his sunglasses and hat from last year live.

Honorable mention for the assistant Queen Latifahwho managed to get two shouts Rhea Seehorn i Stephen Grahamindividual acceptance speeches.

Worst hosting bit: Nikki Glaser’s performance of “Golden.”

While Nikki Glaser’s opening monologue deserves a standing ovation, her attempt to go viral with a unique rendition of “Golden” by KPop Demon Hunters it resulted in mixed reactions.

When she got to the chorus, Glaser was (luckily?) interrupted on stage Fran Drescher.

“For God’s sake, father!” the Martí Suprem said the star. “You know I love you, but you have to stop singing. Your voice is so annoying! Don’t tell me you’d sing in Korean too?”

Worst element of the show: long acceptance speeches

While actors and actresses deserve their moment to speak when they win a major award, many of us would like to remember that it’s only a three-hour show.

Instead of acceptance speeches that went on too long, we wish we could have heard more of the unpredictable music that played throughout the show.

“Why are they playing club music at the #GoldenGlobes,” wrote one user via X when someone accepted their award Usheris “Yes”. Another viewer added“Whoever is doing the background music for this year’s #GoldenGlobes is definitely a millennial lol.”
