Syrian army advances north amid Kurdish conflict, US kills al Qaeda-linked leader




Syrian government forces on Sunday advanced into several areas of northern Syria previously held by Kurdish-led fighters after talks to integrate their forces stalled amid calls for a de-escalation. The US has reported an attack in northwestern Syria targeting an al Qaeda-linked leader who officials say had a direct link to the Islamic State group responsible for last month’s deadly ambush.
