actress Sydney Sweeney headed to Phoenix Raceway for the NASCAR Championship on Sunday, Nov. 2, on a promotional visit for his new movie.
Sweeney, 28, stars in the film Christie which tells the story of the legendary boxer Christy Martin and her husband’s attempt to murder her.
During the presentation of the drivers before the race, the the actress made a speech to the four drivers fighting for the championship, uniting his character in the new film with the enormity of the race.
“Most days, that checkered flag means victory, but today it means something more,” Sweeney told the drivers. “A dream realized, a life changed, a name that will never be forgotten.”
He continued, “In my new movie ‘Christy,’ I play a warrior. A fighter who refuses to give up. ‘Christy’ is about heart, about determination, the same spirit it takes to make it to the Championship Four. So to our future champion, remember what this flag stands for. You’re not just another driver, you’re a NASCAR champion.”
Chase Briscoe, William Byron, Denny Hamlin i Kyle Larson they are the four drivers competing for Sunday’s championship.
Sweeney was dressed for the part, sporting a racing jacket, shorts and red boots to join the sold-out crowd at the race.

He recently revealed that he had to gain 35 pounds for the new film, eating “so many protein shakes” and Uncrustables to physically embody her character.
“It was a big undertaking,” he explained SiriusXM on Wednesday October 29 of his physical transformation. “The emotional toll of (Christy’s) life, there’s a lot of growth, a lot of pain and a lot of understanding.”
He added: “The physical change I undertook was a lot too.”
In one Instagram postSweeney revealed that after she finished filming the film, the actress called the film “one of the most emotional and transformative experiences of my life.”
“Christy’s journey is so inspiring and having her by my side through this process has been nothing short of surreal,” she posted with a photo of her and Martin together. “There were moments on set where I was watching her standing next to the monitors, cheering us on, and I was so moved. Knowing what she’s endured, what she’s pushed through to be there in that moment, it made me want to cry.”
The post continued, “This story is so much bigger than just a movie. It’s a testament to resilience, survival, and finding the strength to keep fighting. I can’t wait for you all to see it, not only because I’m proud of the transformation and the work I put into it, but because Christy’s story deserves to be told. I kicked some ass) ((as if I liked it a little lol)) but most importantly that you will witness a story as powerful as the woman who lived it.I will have this experience with me forever.
