Submarine cables, the new strategic battlefield




Almost 1.5 million kilometers of submarine cables run through the world. Infrastructure is critical to both national security and economic stability. But an increase in disturbances – particularly in the Baltic Sea – has focused attention on the need to protect these networks. Although many outages appear to be accidental, some can be attributed to sabotage by state-sponsored actors.
