After launching a messaging feature Last August, Spotify now launched group chat. Company declare this week users can now share the podcasts, playlists, and audiobooks they’re listening to with up to 10 people.
You can only start chatting with people you have previously shared content with. For example, if you have a collaborative playlist with someone or have joined Jam or Blend together, you can start a conversation with them.
The move comes as Spotify continues to invest in creating streaming apps more social. Over the years, the company has gradually added social elements, including features such as comments on podcasts and the ability to follow people and see what they’re listening to.
Spotify previously noted that users should continue to share content outside of the app, as the messaging feature is to complement it.
Messages are encrypted at rest and in transit. However, they are not protected by end-to-end encryption.
