Martial law action
The crisis began on December 3, 2024, in a day-and-night address in which he accused the Democratic Party of Korea of colluding with “Civil Service” and “North Korean Communists”.
Yun ordered troops into the country’s national assembly, where soldiers blocked access and clashed with protesters and lawmakers as special forces tried to enter the chamber.
But within three hours, martial law was overturned after 190 of the nation’s 300 lawmakers — including Lee — convened in the House and unanimously rejected the decree. Yun finally pulled out six hours after the fight was announced.
