following Kody Brownthe breaks with three of his four wives, his relationships with most of their adult children have become tense, including those with daughters Ysabel Brown i Maddie Brown.
Christine Brown and Kody’s daughter Ysabel, 22, became a reality on the Sunday, Nov. 30, episode of Sister Wives about how his stepfather, David Woolleyhas weighed in on her life amid her rocky dynamic with Kody, 56.
“When my mom and David first started dating, it all happened so fast, and I wasn’t used to another man in my mom’s life. So I was very worried about the kind of role she would take on,” Ysabel said, referring to Christine and David. whirlwind romance before they tied the knot in October 2023. “I was mostly worried about him taking on the role of father in our family, that we have a father.”
Ysabel confessed, “I thought it might take up too much space,” revealing that David “doesn’t do that” and that he “never overdoes it.”
Kody Brown is the father of 18 children, many of whom have spoken about their strained relationships with their father over the years. She said: “He is very respectful. He is very respectful of my father. He is very respectful of my mother and her children and that she is a mother to us and that he is her husband and not our father.”
Ysabel shared that David’s place in her life, being hands-on without replacing Kody, is “a hard thing to balance, especially if your dad isn’t very, like, prevalent in your life.”
She told the cameras that she and Kody haven’t spent much time together since Christine, 53, left him in November 2021. (Christine and Kody share six children, including Ysabel).

Ysabel added that over the past few years she has “realized the role my mother plays in my life,” calling Christine “two people in one.”
“She can be the father and she can be the mother and she’s perfect at it. And then David is great too,” Ysabel concluded.
Elsewhere in the episode, 30-year-old Maddie, who is Kody’s oldest daughter Janelle Brownshared an update on her ongoing rift with her father.

After Janelle, 56, revealed that Kody reached out to set up a time to visit her in North Carolina after they split in 2022, Maddie said she’s hopeful they’ll all be in a better place one day.
“I think there might be forgiveness,” Maddie, who is a mother of four children herself, she told her mother.
Janelle confessed, “It seems so far for him to be in a relationship with you guys again,” referring to Maddie and her four remaining siblings. (Janelle and Kody welcomed six children during their marriage. Their son Garnishment he committed suicide in March 2024 at the age of 25.)
“I am open to reconciliation and forgiveness and just closure” Maddie explained. “But if he ever wanted to come back into our lives, there would have to be a pattern of consistency.”

“He called to check on me on the anniversary of Garrison’s death. And on his birthday, he called to check on me,” Janelle said. “And I actually thought about calling him, but I was like, ‘Is that weird?’ But it was fine. Like, everything was fine.”

Janelle, meanwhile, had a rough patch with Kody before their split in 2022 after she ran into their sons Garrison and Gabriel24-year-old, about her rules during the shutdown of the coronavirus pandemic.
Meri, 54, confirmed in January 2023 that she and Kody had split. His only child, lion30, recently opened up about her relationship with Kody afterward he claimed Sister Wives Earlier this month, he “reached out to all my children” on multiple occasions to make amends.
According to Leon, it is not the case. “Let me be clear: I haven’t heard from this man since my brother killed himself,” Leon wrote via his Instagram story on Tuesday, Nov. 25, referring to Garrison’s death.
“Kody shamelessly walked me to Garrison’s funeral,” Leon alleged, calling Kody “a liar. It’s a dad joke. That’s all.”
