A Turkish-owned oil tanker that recently visited a Russian port was heavily damaged in explosions off the coast of Senegal last Thursday. Although Kiev did not claim responsibility for the attack, the bombing followed a campaign targeting ships accused of belonging to Russia’s “shadow fleet” – raising suspicions that the war in Ukraine has spread as far as West Africa.
