Former University of Michigan football coach Sherrone Mooreletter of termination has been released, shedding light on the school’s investigation into her relationship with a member of staff.
In the letter, obtained by the Detroit news On Friday, Jan. 9, the university alleged that Moore, 39, “provided false statements during investigative interviews regarding the matter.”
The letter revealed that the athletic department received “hotline reports alleging an inappropriate relationship with a staff member,” which the school confirmed through its investigation.
Moore has since admitted to taking part a relationship of years with the woman He was fired on December 10.
The letter stated that Moore “is not to contact any University employees or student-athletes, and is not to visit any Athletic Department facilities.”
Moore is ineligible for re-employment at the University of Michigan, according to the letter, and was told to return his iPad, phone and car to the dealership.
Any personal items from Moore’s office were to be sent to Moore’s home by December 23.
The letter was signed by the athletic director of the University of Michigan Warde Manuelwho fired Moore during a one-on-one meeting in his office.
Shortly after his dismissal, Moore drove to the staff member’s home and allegedly entered his apartment.
“(The staff member) indicated he was approximately 5 feet from the door when he entered,” court records said. “She advised that she began to back up and as he approached her. (She) advised that Moore took two knives from the drawer and pointed them, “You ruined my life. You’ve ruined my life.”
Moore allegedly backed the staff member “into the living room” while holding the knives. Once he reached his attorney by phone, Moore allegedly “backed up and turned the knives on himself, pointing them at his neck, saying he was going to kill himself and she was going to watch.”
Moore was arrested in a nearby church parking lot after fleeing the woman’s apartment.
Moore was charged with third-degree felony home invasion, misdemeanor domestic harassment and misdemeanor breaking and entering on Dec. 12.
He was released on $25,000 bond and ordered to wear a GPS tracking monitor and to cease all contact with the staff member.
Moore is scheduled to appear in court on January 22.
In the 911 audio posted by TMZ Sports on Thursday, January 8Moore’s wife, kellyshe said she was worried about her husband’s well-being after he was fired.
“I’m worried about my husband getting hurt. Can you track his phones?” he asked a dispatcher.
“He called me and said he’s been fired from his job. He’s in crisis,” she said, saying dispatcher Sherrone said he wanted to “kill himself.”
Kelli added: “I told him I love him and I need him to come home but I don’t know where he is.”
