A former University of Michigan football player claims that former head coach Sherrone Moorea staff member’s affair was used as “blackmail” to gamble.
“I was treated unfairly because of Sherrone Moore’s blackmail by players and staff, which jeopardized my opportunity to get on the field,” the former Michigan wide receiver said. Anthony Simpson he wrote in a since-deleted post via X, according to WDIV Local 4 in detroit
He continued, “The fastest player on the team and I won reps every day in practice. Only there for fall camp. Our team captains also advocated for me to play. They denied me justice.”
Simpson transferred to Michigan last offseason after playing two seasons at the University of Arizona and two seasons at the University of Massachusetts.

The wide receiver had just one carry for 10 yards all last season, which came against Central Michigan on September 13, 2025.
Simpson entered the transfer portal on January 16, sharing via X“Thank you God for everything 🙏🏾 I know you have a plan for me! A true worker in need of an explosive playmaker? Slot and outside and run every route in the tree 💯.”
It was announced that Simpson transferred to the University of Toledo on Tuesday, January 20th.
“Extremely blessed thank you God for everything, let’s work 🙏🏾❤️,” she wrote via X after the announcement.
Former Michigan wide receiver Morgan’s Seedswho transferred to UCLA earlier this month, appeared to dispute Simpson’s allegation in the comments.
“Let people tell you anything and believe it,” Morgan wrote, according to WDIV.

Moore, 39, was fired as head football coach on Dec. 10 after a university investigation uncovered a years-long affair with a staff member.
Moore’s leave letterathletic director at the University of Michigan Warde Manuel Moore said he “provided false statements during investigative interviews regarding the matter.”
Within hours of being fired, Moore allegedly broke into the staff member’s apartment and threatened to hurt her and himself.
Moore was charged with third-degree felony home invasion, misdemeanor domestic harassment and misdemeanor breaking and entering on Dec. 12.
Details are beginning to emerge about what allegedly happened on Wednesday, Dec. 10, after former University of Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore was fired and before he was taken into police custody that afternoon. He was released on $25,000 bond and ordered to wear a GPS tracking device. He was also ordered to cease all contact with the staff member.
Moore is scheduled to appear in court for his next hearing on Thursday, January 22.
The University of Michigan hired Kyle Whittingham as the new head football coach on December 26, 2025.
