Getty ImagesOnline retail giant Shein said it has banned the sale of all sex toys on its platforms worldwide, after being accused of displaying products with “a childish look.
French Consumer concerns are first raised On the weekend of the description and calculation of the dolls, it is said that it is left “little doubt about child pornography in the content.”
The company said on Monday that it has permanently banned “all seller accounts linked to products that are illegal or irregular sex products.
Shein also said that it has temporarily removed the adult product category as a precaution.
Every listing and image related to sex dolls has been removed from Shein’s platform, the company said.
The retailer added that it will conduct a full review, with plans to set stricter controls on sellers.
“The company also strengthened the Blacklist Blacklist to prevent the test list of product bans on sellers,” said Shein.
The company’s executive chairman Donald Tang said: “The fight against child exploitation is non-negotiable for Shein.
“We are tracing the source and will take decisive action against those responsible.”
The French Directorate for competition, consumer affairs and fraud control initially raised concerns about Saturday dolls.
In response, Shein said it removed the listings for child-like children as soon as it became aware of the issue and began an investigation into how the products were offered for sale on its platform.
France’s finance minister has threatened to ban a Singapore-based retailer from the country if it continues to sell products – days before the opening of its first permanent exit.
People are seen protesting outside the department store of BHV opposite the City Hall in Paris, where the Shein outlet is scheduled to open this week.
The brand has previously reached out to examine the environmental impact of fast-fashion and the Working conditions of people selling products on the platform.
