Sharon Stone is applauding after her fellow attendees rudely accused her of stealing a seat at their table after they failed to recognize the A-list actress.
The Casino The 67-year-old star won a Timeless award at the Astras Awards and used her acceptance speech to call out the “kids” involved in the awkward encounter.
While the ceremony took place on January 9, a clip of the fiery speech gained momentum after the event, finally going viral this week.
“And to the kids at my table who wondered, ‘Who the hell took that chair?’ Now you know,” Stone said as she accepted her award.
Beyond explaining the context, but without naming the people in question, Stone continued: “Yeah, somebody came up and said, ‘Who are you and why are you sitting here?'” Stone added: “Like she said, ‘F**k you!'”
Having put the ‘kids’ on edge due to their rude treatment at the event, Stone took the opportunity to urge them to use their fame and success for the greater good.
“More importantly, and more specifically, I’d like to welcome you. And I’d like to say that this is an opportunity. Because I started my activism work when my fame started. And I’d like to give you the opportunity to start your activism work now that your consciousness has been activated,” Stone continued. “Because fame without conscience, success without purpose, is meaningless.”
During the speech, Stone also talked about her iconic role as Catherine Tramell in the 1992 film. basic instinct and explained the persistence it took to land the gig in the first place.
“I wasn’t the first person they offered basic instinct a. But I was the person who got a manager to bring her into the office and get her the script,” she said. “And I was the person who was ready, because I had that script for eight months. And I was the person who had a manager to call every fucking day, because I wanted that part.
