Mike Carroll has opened up about his father George Carroll‘s disappearance as part of Investigation Discovery’s new documentary The secrets we bury — and considers the possibility that he may have been killed in a teaser clip shared exclusively with Us Weekly.
The next doc will feature interviews with Mike and his siblings as they look back on their father’s disappearance in the 1960s. In a new teaser clip, Mike recalled a conversation with a psychic in which he realized his father might have been murdered.
Mike explained that he initially met with the medium to speak with his late mother, Dorothy Carroll. However, they were unable to communicate with his spirit and Mike admitted to being discouraged by the experience. While talking to the psychic about her disappointment, she said she “just wanted to know where” her father was.
He recalled the medium saying, “When it comes to the ‘M word,’ you don’t usually say anything until you give me permission to do so.”
When the medium confirmed the “M-word” was a murder, Mike said it was the first time he began to believe his missing father might have been murdered. “I’m like, ‘OK, now you got my attention,'” he recalled telling the outlet.

After Mike asked the medium where her father was, she said he was “in the basement.” He continued: “She says, ‘It’s on the left, behind, under the target.’ I said, ‘Holy shit.’
Mike quickly realized what the medium meant by “the target,” explaining that there was a gun range in his family’s basement with a target when he was 4 years old. “There was a target to shoot bullets down there, pellets,” he said. “They took me out of there, like, when I was really young.”
He noted that the psychic knew something that happened nearly 60 years earlier “that no one else knew,” which he said was “amazing.”
“And then, of course, I asked, ‘Who did it?'” Mike said as the conversation continued about his father’s alleged murder. However, the teaser clip concluded before Mike could reveal what the medium said about who might have killed his father.
The upcoming documentary about George’s disappearance will include extensive interviews with members of his family, as well as intimate archival footage that captured the family over several decades. Throughout the conversations, Mike and his siblings will reveal family dramas and updates about their father’s disappearance that no one could have imagined.
