Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos spoken exclusively we on Monday, February 2, revealing what police know about what happened in the hours leading up to her disappearance.
“We have a starting point,” Nanos said. “The family brought her home from dinner between 9:30 and 9:45 p.m.” on Saturday, January 31.
“So we would back it up to even 9 or 8:30 p.m. to start looking.”

The sheriff noted that Annie did not raise any “red flags” about her mother’s behavior during their last interaction.
A search is currently underway to find the mother of Today show host Savannah Guthrie, Nancy Guthrie, who has been reported missing. According to Nanos, Nancy’s family members “were not alerted to her (missing) until 11 a.m.” the next day, while the police were not called until 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, February 1. As a result, officials are looking into a timeline of “from 9:30 p.m. to 11 (am)” as a window of when Nancy disappeared.
“This is an 84-year-old lady who is out of danger his own sleepy houseand is taken This should never happen,” Nanos said wepointing out that Savannah didn’t “making any concerns” about his mother’s health before her disappearance.

“This is very troubling to us. We don’t normally bring the sheriff out on a scene like this. But it’s very troubling what we’re learning from the house,” Sheriff Nanos said at a news conference Sunday about the case. “And so we’ll continue. The detective’s homicide team is out right now looking at the scene as well.”
He explained, “We’ve pretty much just thrown everything we can,” adding that Nancy “isn’t in good physical health, so it’s a big concern.”
Nanos later added at the press conference that Nancy “doesn’t have any cognitive problems.”

“She’s very alert, she’s good and healthy,” he shared, but noted that Nancy is “not in good” physical health. “I hope we find her safe and sound, but we can’t ignore what’s in front of us.”
Nanos confirmed that law enforcement “did not rule out” foul play and had formally opened a criminal investigation into Nancy’s disappearance.
During a second press conference, authorities revealed that because of the crime scene, Nancy’s home in Tucson, Arizona, they believe she “didn’t leave by herself.”
Police added that they were looking at Nancy’s case not as “a search mission so much” as a crime.

He and Sheinelle Jones then read Savannah’s statement: “On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and messages of support. Right now, our focus remains the safe return of our beloved mother. We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.”

While the search continues, he spoke with one of Nancy’s neighbors we about what has happened in their community since the police began investigating the case.
“There were a lot of dark vans with tinted windows,” Morgan Brownwho lives “a quarter of a mile down the street” from Nancy, explained exclusively we on Monday “At first there were a lot of police cars, and then it was vans, so I assumed maybe they ran into something.”
Brown recalled that the police had a helicopter “to look for her” on Sunday, noting that “there are no sidewalks in our neighborhood. You just walk down the street and then there’s desert, so (they) thought she went off into the desert or something, but she walks with a cane, so I can’t imagine why she would do that.”
Brown noted that authorities asked anyone with Ring cameras to review their footage “to see if anything out of the ordinary came up.” He added that he hadn’t “heard of anyone finding anything” in his videos, and neither had he.
