Authorities are releasing new details about the ongoing search today‘s Savannah Guthriemother is missing Nancy Guthrie.
“Something unusual happened in that house that made us say, ‘Wow, something’s wrong here.’ Something doesn’t add up,” Prima Country Sheriff Chris Nanos shared exclusively with Us Weekly Monday February 2. “We’re going to pull out all the stops and go from every angle. We really hope it’s a search and rescue mission and we find her and she’s safe and sound. But it would be unfair if we didn’t look at what’s in front of us and say, ‘We have to act.'”
Nanos also confirmed that Nancy’s family “really wants her back” as they wait for updates.
“This is an 84-year-old lady who is safe in her home asleep and she’s being taken,” Nanos added. “And that should never happen.”
In a separate interview with CBS News On Monday, Nanos also said, “I think she was kidnapped, yes. She didn’t walk away from there. She didn’t go willingly.”
On Sunday, February 1, news broke that Savannah’s mother was reported missing in Arizona.
At the time, Nanos described the situation as “very worrying”, noting that the authorities they do not rule out foul play.
According to missing person poster shared by the Pima County Sheriff’s Office, Nancy was last seen on the afternoon of Saturday, January 31st at her residence.

At a news conference Monday, police said Nancy had mobility issues and needed vital daily medication.
“We know it didn’t just come out of there,” Nanos said. “She didn’t go out on her own…Nancy Guthrie is of a fantastic, healthy mind. This is not dementia related. She is as sharp as a tactic. The family wants everyone to know that she is not someone who just got out.”
As the search continues for Nancy, Savannah, 54, has traveled to Arizona to be closer to her family. Sheinelle Jones filled in the NBC News anchor on Monday’s edition of today.

“On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and messages of support,” the statement said. “Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our beloved mother. We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.”
Multiple neighbors talked to we, alleging that police have been going door-to-door on neighboring streets and asking residents to check home cameras for anything that could help the ongoing investigation.
Police previously confirmed that search and rescue teams, including volunteers, dogs, border patrol agents and helicopters have been dispatched to find the missing 84-year-old man.
“(Nancy) was always asking about other people and always worried about them, she never put the spotlight on herself, but always on others,” a neighbor said. explained exclusively we. “We are all worried about her … (We are) completely shocked and very worried.”
Savannah has previously celebrated her mother in the today show in candid segments.
When she celebrated Nancy’s 80th birthday in 2022, Savannah praised her mother for being “curious about everything.”
“He has lived a life of integrity and loyalty,” Savannah said. “She consistently does the right thing and the hard thing. She’s a truth teller, whether you really want to hear the truth or not. She’s quick and smart.”
