Ryan Naderi: Rangers sign striker from Hansa Rostock on deadline day as club seal January fourth arrival | Football news

Rangers signed Ryan Naderi in a £4.7m deal on deadline day.

The Ibrox club had initially agreed a £3million move to sign the 22-year-old striker in the summer.

However, following further talks with Hansa Rostock, a deal was agreed – despite the German third division wanting to keep the player until the end of this season.

Naderi becomes head coach Danny Roll’s January fourth arrival, following the deal for winger Andreas Skov Olsen on loan, plus permanent changes for midfielder Tochi Chukuvani and left-back Tuur Romens.

Speaking to the club’s website after signing a long-term deal at Ibrox, he said: “I’m really pleased this move has happened.

“Now I’m here, I plan to make the most of this opportunity. Rangers are a world-renowned club with a history of winning silverware and that’s what I’m here to achieve.”

“I look forward to meeting my new team-mates, all the staff and the fans in the coming days and weeks.”

“I’m ready to start and I hope to have a positive impact on the team by the end of the season.”

Following the deal for Naderi, who began his senior career at hometown club Dresden before moving to Borussia Monchengladbach in 2021, Rohl added: “I am delighted to add Ryan to the squad.

“He is still young in terms of his playing career, but he showed in Germany that he knows his way to goal, as well as contributing a number of assists due to his high level of skill.

“He’s someone who has a lot of potential and I believe we can help take his game to the next level. We’ll help him adapt to his new environment and I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do in a Rangers shirt.”
