Rwanda and Democratic Republic of the Congo republic reached a draft agreement to end decades of conflicts.
The collapse, which is underway by the US and Qatar, provides for “separation, disarmament and conditions together” in armed groups fighting with Eastern Dr Congo.
It also includes provisions for a joint security mechanism to prevent future flare-ups. Peace deal is expected to be formally signed by next week.
The agreement can open the passage for billions of dollars in Western investment in the mineral region struck in conflict in three decades.
However, analysts say that many questions are left over the content of peace agreement.
The US State Department said team teams began in the draft text on Wednesday, ahead of a formal signariary signing ceremony in Marco Rubio’s state.
In a statement, the agreement has been achieved in three days “construction dialogue about politics, security, and economic interests” between the officers of two Washington countries in Washington.
The most recent draft agreement built a previous approval signed earlier, in addition.
In late April, Rwanda and Dr. Congo signed an agreement with Washington, which promised to honor each other and arrived at a draft peace agreement within days.
Decades – high conflicts develop earlier this year if M23 rebels – widely believed to be rwanda-backed – covered territory full of mineral to Eastern Dr. Congo.
Rwanda denies supporting the m23, insisting its military presence in the region is a defensive measure against the armed groups like the fdlr – a rebel group composed largely of ethnic hutus linked to the 1994 rwandan genocide.
The M23 was caught in the late January, followed by the town of Bukavu, and since settled in manageable structures in the regions under control.
Thousands of people killed and hundreds of thousands of civilians forced their homes lately months after the rebel.
After the absence of territory, Kinshasa government returns US for US for help, reported offering access to critical minerals. Eastern Dr Congo abound in Coltan and other resources is important in global electronics industries.
Peace deal between two countries never passed past.
In the last year, Rwandan and Congolese experts reached an agreement twice under the rule of Rwandans against FDLR – but ministers from two countries failed to endorse the agreement. Eventually Angola went down as an intermediary in March.
