Speaking to FRANCE 24’s Mark Owen, Kristina Harvard, deputy head of the Russia team at the Institute for the Study of War, says that “the Russian advance is literally going fast” and that “this is not the picture the Russians are trying to paint”, adding that Russian casualties are astronomical. She explains that the Russians are trying to diplomatically arm Ukraine and the West to give up this territory, because “they know that the fight will be long.”
