“Did America turned against Rory McILroy?” Patrick, 69, asked Monday, June 16 The Dan Patrick Show. “Everyone wanted him to win the great slam of the race. He wins the masters. And he suddenly is like:” Oh, Rory. Does not want to meet with the media. It’s a baby. Oh, he is fighting. “This happened quickly.”
McILroy, 36, won his first victory in the master’s degree in April, but has struggled to recover the same way since. It ended in a tie for 19th place in the United States Open last weekend, held at Pennsylvania’s Oakmont Country Club.
The golfers’ weekend was seen with debate and controversy. On Friday, June 13, McILroy was rage, and broke his club against a score. Later on the day, he collided his golf club to the tour after hitting a poor shot.
The tournament also saw McILroy give very little time to the media, jumping most of his sessions with journalists, which has to become a habit for him.
“It’s such a good interview and it cares a lot,” Patrick said. “Hopefully I met with the media. I know it is difficult to get in and make someone present to you because you didn’t play well.”

After the long-awaited victory of the Mcilroy Masters, who saw him become the sixth golf in history to win the Grand Slam race, Patrick hoped that there was a high weight of McILroy’s shoulders.
“Get out and play,” Patrick urged. “You are a father. You’re there, it can be fun now.”
McILroy and his wife, Erica StollShare daughter Play4. They also did not attend the United States Open throughout the weekend.
Patrick called McILroy’s reluctance to meet with the media and be ambassador for the “disappointing” golf game.
“Yes, I ask him to be a good interview after being humiliated by Oakmont. I know,” Patrick said. “He goes together with the territory. All these athletes, I think he owes it to the public to talk to the media. How long you speak or what you say, this is up to you. But I think they support you. They are there. They are fans. They want to listen, good and bad.”
Patrick added, “Sometimes you work harder to get out of something, to avoid something like this.”
McILroy met with the journalists after his final round on Sunday, June 15, where he discussed the currency dichotomy of his life.
“I feel like I live two different lives,” he said. “I am a father and a husband when I am far away from here, and then I am who I am when I am here. It’s always nice to escape -and feel a little normal.”
McILroy also discussed his frustration with the media, insisting that his position as one of the most important names in the golf for more than a decade should be granted -certain privileges.
“I feel like I won the right to do everything I want to do, yes,” said McILroy.
