The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Mary Cosbyson of Robert Cosby Jr.has broken his silence after being recently released from a Utah prison.
“I’m back :),” Robert 23, posted via Instagram on Friday, February 6, next to a carousel of photos of himself and his pet bulldog.
Robert’s lawyer Clayton Simms confirmed to people on Wednesday, February 4, that the Bravo star was released from the Salt Lake County Metropolitan Jail on Tuesday, February 3, after two months behind bars. According to court documents, Robert will have to serve 36 months of probation and complete 75 hours of community service.
“(Robert) expresses deep regret regarding his past actions and acknowledges that his past behavior demonstrates poor judgment,” Simms told the outlet.
The lawyer continued: “(Robert) attributes his behavior to the absence of coping skills when dealing with a painful separation from his wife, as he was not prepared for the sudden dissolution of their union.”
Simms indicated that Robert will undergo mental health and anger management evaluations as a condition of his release. (Robert previously opened up to his mother, Mary, 53, about past substance abuse problems The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.)
“To ensure his continued success, Robert is committed to taking responsibility, participating in therapy and securing a job,” Simms said. people. “Unfortunately, sometimes we learn more from our mistakes than our successes. Robert is on the right track and moving in a positive direction.”
Us Weekly informed in November 2025, Robert Jr. pleaded guilty to assault, trespassing and violation of a protective order, among other charges, in connection with several incidents involving his estranged wife, Alexiana Arian Smokoffand his father
The court then denied Robert’s request to be released and ordered him to remain locked up in the Salt Lake County Metropolitan Jail until sentencing in February. A judge also issued a permanent no-contact order for Alexiana.
Alexiana filed for divorce in Salt Lake County District Court in November 2025, and the court granted him a divorce decree by default earlier this month. A condition of the divorce required Robert not to harass, threaten or show up at Alexiana’s house and he was also required to pay her legal fees associated with the divorce.

Mary talked about Robert’s arrest during the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City meeting in January telling the host Andy Cohen that he was “okay” with his son being imprisoned for now.
“I’m not worried about him,” Mary told Andy. “I know he’s in a place where he’s not using. At some point, I have to step back so he can learn and make his own decisions, and unfortunately, he’s learning the hard way. But I’m okay with that.”
She continued, “It’s just that you don’t want to see your son suffer, but I know he’s good. And I’d rather he be (in prison) than dead, you know?”
Mary revealed to Andy during the tearful reunion segment that she kept in close contact with Robert even though she had no plans to visit the Salt Lake County Metropolitan Jail.
“I can’t go to jail, Andy. That’s a little weird. I don’t want to look at my son behind glass,” she insisted. “He calls me every day. I’m basically preaching to him. I’m like, ‘You’re going through this, but you have to realize that God allows it, and if God allowed it, it’s for your own good. This will help you change and you have to change.”
