Reba McEntire’s Happy’s Place pokes fun at the Baldwins with subtle shade


Reba McEntireThe NBC sitcom Happy’s place found a subtle way to playfully throw shade at the Baldwin brothers.

During the Friday, January 16 episode, Steve (Pablo Castelblanco) considered exploring a side gig as an actor. He lost hope after not booking his first audition, which he did when Bobbie (McEntire) stepped in to offer some advice.

“You’ve lost one role, you’ll get the next one,” he told Steve, who replied, “No, I won’t. The ability to be a great actor is rare.”

He continued, “You have to be born with it. Like one (Meryl) Streep oh (Robert) De Niro or two of the Baldwin brothers.

Happy’s Place has enjoyed keeping it in the TV family with numerous stars from Reba McEntire’s past sitcom, Reba. The Baldwins are a family of performers with Alec Baldwin leading the charge. He is the eldest of the brothers Daniel Baldwin, William Baldwin i Stephen Baldwin. Happy’s place has found creative ways to poke fun at pop culture in the past, with a November 2025 episode of the show featuring a joke about Al Pacino to be a father again at the age of 83.

Happy’s place centers around Bobbie as she inherits her father’s restaurant and discovers a new business partner in her long-lost half-sister (Belissa Escobedo). The show is also a star Melissa Peterman, Rex Linn, Pablo Castelblanco i Tokala Black Elk.

The NBC sitcom reunited McEntire, 70, and Peterman, 54, more than 17 years after their hit series Reba ended its six-year run on The WB. Reba also starred Scarlett Pomer i Mitch Hollemanboth have yet to make a cameo after that Chris Rich i Steve Howey appeared in season 1. (Joanna Garcia Swisher is established to appear on the show later this season.)

Before the show returned for Season 2, McEntire and Escobedo, 27, they shared how excited they were for viewers to see how much Happy’s place has evolved

“It’s a great place to be. We know our audience, we know each other better, and we’ve established ourselves. We didn’t have that big of a break between the end of season one and the start of season two, so we fell back into it,” McEntire exclusively said. Us Weekly. “We’re bonding a lot more. All six of us are very confident and very comfortable with each other, to the point where when we have a guest cast, we feel very comfortable sharing the stage.”

Escobedo said the connection you can hear it in the show.

“As we feel more comfortable and more connected, we see that in the characters as well,” he added. “Because we’re settling into our own characters, and so each personality sinks in a little bit more. You get into that person more.”

She continued, “That’s what I’m so excited for everyone to see how the relationship has progressed with everyone as a whole even more. It’s so much fun.”

McEntire scoffed we that the stories in Season 2 are even bigger and better, adding, “We’ve progressed and grown together. We’re a close-knit family, even though (Belissa and I) are the only blood-related ones on the show. But it’s like we were kids who were adopted into a big family called Happy’s Place.”

Happy’s place airs on NBC Fridays at 8:00 PM ET before airing the next day on Peacock.
