Qatar will provide 400 MW of electricity per day, where authorities have struggled with electricity generation.
Qatar has started providing natural gas to solve electricity deficiency and electricity reduction in the country through Jordan, the state news agency CUNA said.
In Statement On Thursday, Qatar said that the initiative has come as part of the agreement signed with Jordan and in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program.
According to the contract, Qatar will supply natural gas “every day, the power will generate electricity and gradually increase production in the DIR Ali Power plant in Syria”.
Electricity will be divided into several Syrian cities including the capital Damascus, Rif Dimask, Dara, Al Kunada, Holmes, Homes, Ham, Tartas, Latakia, Aleppo and Deer Az-Zur.
According to the QNA, “This venture shows an important step to meet the needs of the Syrian people and reflects a shared commitment to work together for the benefit of the region,”
Ever since Syrian interim officials removed former President Basir Al-ASD in December, they have struggled to provide electricity to the citizens.
Damascus had earlier received a lot of oil used from Iran for generating electricity, but after the deletion of Al-Assad, the supply was cut off.
